Asia Day

Since 2001, the Center for East Asian Studies has held an annual Asia Day in February on the Penn campus. This event, co-sponsored with the South Asia Center , enables more than a hundred high school students from Pennsylvania , New Jersey and Delaware to attend an intensive day long program of classes on varied topics related to South and East Asia , as well as enjoy Indian and Chinese cuisine! Penn Faculty and graduate students offer their expertise in subjects ranging from arts to politics. Asia Day continues to be one of our most exciting outreach programs for students.

East Asia in the Schools

The East Asia in the Schools program is a special effort to reach high schools in the region. By making arrangements through the Center for East Asian Studies, area high schools can host a University of Pennsylvania professor specializing in East Asia who will share his or her expertise with students in one-hour lectures on many popular aspects of China, Japan, and Korea. Funding from the U.S. Department of Education and the University of Pennsylvania makes these talks available for no cost to schools.
